This publication is based on the standards established by the European Court of Human Rights when deciding cases related to the length of the procedure, the criteria that should be used when determining the length of the procedure, the period under consideration, as well as the existence of domestic legal remedies for solving this problems. The review also contains examples of reforms that member states have undertaken to address the problem of the length of the procedure. Also, the Publication contains selected cases from the practice of the European Court of Human Rights in relation to trial within a reasonable time.
