Judicial Practice Portal in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Judicial Practice Portal in Bosnia and Herzegovina contains the decisions of the highest courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina: the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska, the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Appeals Court of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as explanations of relevant legal concepts and the judicial practice of these courts.

The Portal is part of the Database of Court Decisions in BiH developed by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the initiative of the highest courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Portal was developed in cooperation with the AIRE Centre’s Western Balkans Programme and with the support of the UK Government and the European Union with a view to improving the transparency, efficiency and effectiveness of managing relevant case law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Case-Law Database includes explanations of the positions the Bosnia and Herzegovina courts have taken on specific legal issues. Users can also access anonymised court decisions where those positions are implemented, as well as analysis of the key legal concepts of the highest BiH courts.

The Portal has a basic and advanced search function to search for relevant caselaw and is available to both the judicial community and the public.

The Judicial Practice Portal was developed as part of the project “Building an Effective and Citizen-Friendly Judiciary”, alongside the project “Building Capacity of the Judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Harmonisation of Domestic Case-Law and Alignment with European Legal Standards”, implemented by the AIRE Centre with the support of the UK Government, as well as the “Initiative for Legal Certainty and Efficient Judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, implemented by the Council of Europe with the support of the Norwegian Government.
