1. Introduction

This document outlines the Privacy Policy (hereafter referred to as the Policy) of Advice on Individual Rights in Europe, also known as The AIRE Centre, for the Western Balkans Rule of Law Programme. This Policy applies to our processing of personal data in relation to the use of our website: www.airewb.org.

The AIRE Centre is committed to safeguarding the personal information entrusted to us by our users. This policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws in Western Balkans countries and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data collection

When you visit our website, the browser on your device automatically sends information to the server, which is temporarily stored in a log file. In addition, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to analyse website traffic and user behaviour, which helps us improve our website and tailor our content to better meet the needs of our visitors.

The following information is collected without your intervention and stored until it is automatically deleted:

  • The domain you requested
  • Type of device (e.g., desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Geographic location, based on your IP address (the number that is automatically assigned to your device when you use the Internet);
  • Browser type and version;
  • Browser language/locale settings;
  • Operating System;
  • Time and date of the request;
  • The amount of data transferred;
  • Usage data, such as page views, time spent on each page, and interactions with website elements.

Additionally, we collect information you provide to us if you contact us, for example to report a problem with our website or raise a query or comment.

3. Why we collect your data?

We process this data for the purpose of ensuring a smooth and stable connection to the website, comfortable use for users, evaluating system security and stability, and for other administrative purposes. The legal basis for data processing is Article 6 para. 1 s. lit. (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

4. Why we collect your data?

Your data will not be transferred to any third parties unless:

  • we have explicitly indicated this in the description of such data processing;
  • you have given express consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. (a) GDPR;
  • transfer to third parties is required by Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. (b) GDPR for the performance of the contractual relationships with you
  • disclosure in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. (c) GDPR is a legal obligation; and
  • disclosure in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. (f) GDPR is required to assert, exercise or defend legal claims and there is no reason to assume that you have a predominantly legitimate interest in the non-disclosure of your data

5. The usage of “Cookies”

While the website itself does not use cookies, it is integrated with external services such as Google Analytics, Facebook Login, etc. Please note that the use of cookies by these external services is governed by their respective privacy policies. By using our website, you consent to the potential use of cookies by these external services for the purposes stated above.

6. The acceptance of the Policy

Acceptance of the Policy is a form of digital contract between the User and the AIRE Centre. By accepting the Policy, the User provides consent to the AIRE Centre to collect and process data as explained in the Policy.

7. Modification of the Policy

The AIRE Centre reserves the right to change the Policy at any time and will not be held responsible for the consequences that may be caused by such changes. The AIRE Centre will publish the updated Policy on the Portal, which then enters into force.
