Judge of the Commercial Court of Montenegro, Jelena Radović Ivanišević, took part in the Sixth Meeting of the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts (SIFoCC), held in New Delhi, Republic of India.
“The hosts of this year’s forum were the High Court of Delhi and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of India. The event brought together presidents and judges of commercial and business courts from more than forty countries worldwide. It is a great achievement that we have become part of SIFoCC, which is the result of successful cooperation between the judiciary and the AIRE Centre. We now have our seat at the table and can share our experiences,” noted Radović Ivanišević.
Judge Radović Ivanišević took part in the plenary discussion on the topic “Common Standards and Approaches,” which focused on models of international cooperation, exchange of experience, and improving efficiency in resolving commercial and business disputes. The discussion was moderated by Mr Justice Robin Knowles of the United Kingdom, and participants included representatives of the highest judicial institutions from India, Singapore, France, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Canada, and other countries.
“When judges from around the world sit at the same table, it becomes clear that our challenges are often similar, regardless of the size of the country or the legal system. I am pleased to have had the opportunity, through my presentation in the discussion, to present the Montenegrin perspective and contribute to the conversation on shared approaches in the work of commercial courts. In the period ahead, through the work of SIFoCC, the focus will be on further strengthening cooperation and exchange of experience among courts, with the aim of enhancing legal certainty, efficiency, and adaptation to modern challenges. For Montenegro, this represents an important opportunity to further improve the work of the Commercial Court through international cooperation and to create an even more stable and predictable business environment,” said Radović Ivanišević.
In addition to the topic of common legal standards, the forum also covered discussions on corporate responsibility, climate change and the role of the judiciary, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in legal systems.
